It’s a hot June afternoon in Hong Kong, and I’m getting ready to head to the US for my annual visit to my family. This year I’ll be stopping by Portland, Denver, Phoenix, and Bandon on the Oregon coast. I’m looking forward to all the fresh air and family time (especially with my four adorable nephews).
This past Friday I finished the second draft of the second book in The Fire Queen’s Apprentice series, which is called The Thunderbird Queen. Tamri and Selivia are up to some pretty exciting things in this book, and I’m looking forward to sharing it with you all. The book will launch on September 20th. Watch out for the cover reveal and pre-order link in about a month!

In the days before my departure, I’m planning to read through the current draft of the Wake Me After the Apocalypse sequel and get ready for the next round of revisions. I also need to decide what to read on the 13-hour flight! Do you have any suggestions? I’m looking for something totally immersive that will allow me to turn off my writer brain and get lost in the story. Recently I’ve enjoyed Caraval by Stephanie Garber, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Reid Jenkins, City of Stairs by Robert Jackson Bennett, Vicious by V.E. Schwab, and The Water Cure by Sophie Mackintosh.
Thanks in advance for the recommendations! I hope you all have a great summer!
